News

* Pindrop is delighted to announce the publication of two fantastic new collections:

Microscopia by Sujatha Menon exists at the quivering membrane between science and poetry. Drawing on the work of 13 female scientists working within a single UK university faculty, these poems respond creatively and experimentally to the field of Life Sciences. ‘Seed’ poems are broken down into 'cells' and finally into 'genomes' and their relationships explored under the microscope of one of the most exciting lyric poets writing today.

The Mayday Diaries by Robin Houghton starts with an all-consuming job and its associated terrors before moving into a life teetering on collapse, followed by reflection, redemption and the joy of everyday epiphanies. Women stand their ground: a mother quietly refuses to take her pills, a Greek hetaira defends her reputation, a sister’s imagined wheelchair ‘always knows where the speed cameras are.’

* Massive congratulations to Fiona Larkin whose poem ‘Absence has a grammar' won 1st prize in the National Poetry Competition 2042, following Pindrop having published her debut collection, Rope of Sand, in 2023.

* Also out now is Martha Lucas by Antony Christie, a collection of lyric poems which examine the turning of history through the story of a 19th century Irishwoman and her family. And In Transit by Chris Rice, a dazzling collection of poems about journeys, the reasons we make them and the still points they contain: arrivals, departures, attempts at escape and voyages into the unknown.

* Due for publication later in 2025 is work by Emily Wills and Alex Josephy.
